Considering that the University must encourage research by all means at its disposal, as determined by article 40 of its Statutes; that a significant part of current research activities are developed primarily in broad areas that involve multidisciplinary cooperation between various teaching and research units, centers and nuclei; and that the University needs a body that brings together experiences in research activity in its Units and promotes internal exchange and discussion of problems on the frontier of knowledge in the various areas of its activity, through the Resolution GR No. 84/03, the Central Research Commission (CCP) was established, a body directly subordinated to the University Council (CONSU), which is responsible for drawing up guidelines to encourage and support University action in the field of research, and also:
- Stimulate and support the development of research at the University in all areas of knowledge, as well as interdisciplinary;
- Promote internal exchange and discussion of problems on the frontier of knowledge in the various areas of its activity;
- Coordinate actions with the aim of promoting national and international exchange in research projects;
- Decide on the proposals of its subcommittees;
- Propose institutional actions to evaluate the research activity at the University;
- Monitor, evaluate and encourage Unicamp's activities with governmental and non-governmental development agencies;
- Deliberate on matters submitted to it by the Rector or by the University Council.
