The date established by the UN in 2015 aims to recognize the importance of women in science and encourage female participation in scientific and technological areas. Thus, February 11 was chosen to reinforce the global commitment to gender equality in science, reducing barriers and promoting more opportunities for girls and women in science.
Throughout history, women scientists have faced challenges and overcome obstacles to contribute important discoveries to the development of humanity.
Today's date celebrates these pioneers, and the Office of the Vice-Rector for Research congratulates and encourages Unicamp's professors, researchers and students to continue firmly on the path of quality science.
