How do I apply for a scholarship from the Institutional Program for Scientific or Technological Initiation Scholarships (PIBIC / PIBITI)?

The student himself should look for a UNICAMP advisor/researcher and discuss a research plan with him. At the beginning of April of each year, the Dean of Research at UNICAMP, through PIBIC, opens enrollment for the scholarship selection process.

How are scholarships awarded?

After the registration period, all submitted projects are evaluated by a Advisory Committee🇧🇷 The STUDENT, ADVISOR and PROJECT items are evaluated and a final grade is assigned. The best evaluated are contemplated with the scholarships and the others remain on a waiting list waiting for withdrawals.

What is the duration of the scholarship?

Scholarships are awarded for a period of 12 months. The term begins on September 1st and ends on August 31st of the following year. There are no scholarship renewals at PIBIC, as nominations are made annually. Thus, if you are interested in continuing your project with a scholarship, a new application must be made during the established period.

What is the workload of Scientific/Technological Initiation?

All fellows must comply with the maximum effort and interest in the schedule established in the research project, with a minimum workload of 12 hours per week.

What is the value of the PIBIC / PIBITI scholarship?

The current scholarship value is R$ 700,00 (seven hundred reais).

When is the scholarship paid?

The installment will be credited to the current account informed by the scholarship holder until the 10th of the month following the start of the scholarship period.

Are program fellows entitled to vacations?

No, because the scholarship is not governed by the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT), therefore, there is no employment relationship with CNPq/SAE or with the university.

I was not approved in the 1st Call. Am I still running for scholarships?

Yup. All subscribers remain on a waiting list waiting for new vacancies, arising from withdrawals. We publish new calls throughout the current quota.

What are the impediments to receiving the PIBIC / PIBITI scholarship?

Loss of connection with the undergraduate course, withdrawal of enrollment, receipt of another scholarship from any institution or development agency (except social character), course/exchange abroad, employment relationship, drop in academic performance.

Does PIBIC / PIBITI allow the accumulation of scholarships?

The PIBIC/PIBITI scholarship may not be combined with scholarships from other programs of any national or international institutions that promote education and research or similar institutions. Examples: FAPESP, CAPES, PAD Scholarship (Unicamp). Any institution or company that
fund scholarships or administer scholarship programs, regardless of
formally declare itself as such.

Only scholarships that have a social character (assistance, maintenance or permanence objectives) can be received simultaneously with the PIBIC / PIBITI scholarship, since they have different purposes from Scientific Initiation. Examples: BAS, BAT (SAE/Unicamp).

As a PIBIC / PIBITI scholarship holder, can I do an internship?

Both obligatory and non-mandatory internships can be carried out by scholarship holders provided that a Joint Declaration attesting that the internship will not affect their dedication to academic and research activities is provided. To this end, the statement must contain the signatures and stamps and identification of all those involved: educational institution (course or internship coordinator, when applicable), internship supervisor, research advisor and scholarship student. The original copy must be delivered to the Program's secretariat (at the UNICAMP Pro-Rectory of Research), in the same month as the start of the internship. See the model at Forms.

What happens if my report is not approved?

Two chances to recast are granted. If the advisory committee does not deem it satisfactory, the scholarship will be canceled and the reimbursement of the installments for the period comprising this report will be charged.

How do I request the cancellation of my scholarship?

Through a form scholarship withdrawal. Simply fill in, sign and deliver to the PIBIC secretariat or forward via email. Cancellation must be requested by the 10th of the month in question.

I need a statement attesting my Initiation at PIBIC / PIBITI. How should I do?

This type of declaration is issued immediately at the PIBIC/UNICAMP secretariat. If an electronic copy is sufficient, request it via e-mail informing your full name, RA and year you obtained the scholarship.

Is participation in the Scientific Initiation congress at UNICAMP mandatory?

Yup. All students who were scholarship recipients must present their results, even if partial, at the event. Upon justification, it is possible to appoint a representative or extend the presentation commitment to the following year when the scholarship holder is absent or unable to participate. In these cases, it is necessary to contact the PIBIC secretariat in advance.
